How a commission works
The same steps whether it ends as a USD 200 pendant or a matched strand.

Consultation
Day 1. Send reference photos, the occasion and a budget band. A 15–30 minute chat frames the brief.

Pearl selection
Days 2–10. Macro photos, natural-light video and inspection notes for each candidate pearl, or view them in Bali.

Design approval
Days 5–14. A sketch plus a written quotation itemising every pearl, metal weight and labour.

Deposit and making
A 50 percent deposit reserves your pearls. Drilling, knotting and setting follow in the partner workshop.

Check and delivery
Photos and video before dispatch; setting tweaks are free. Hand delivery in Bali or insured courier worldwide.
What a custom necklace costs
Priced per pearl, because two pearls of the same size can differ several times over in value. Indicative as of 2026.

- AAA/AA/A charts are trade conventions, not government standards. Independent lab testing can be arranged at cost before setting.

Lombok loose South Sea pearls commonly trade around IDR 100,000–500,000 per gram; market studies report up to IDR 5,000,000 per gram.
Which pearls suit a bespoke necklace
All from Pinctada maxima. Indonesia is roughly 45 percent of global South Sea pearl production (one industry source, 2014), much of it sold loose, which is the supply a commission draws on.
Bring your own pearls, or ship abroad
Inherited strands, pearls bought in Sekarbela or loose pearls from another dealer are welcome. We inspect them in hand and give a written assessment of luster, surface and drilling condition before quoting, including pearls we think are not worth setting.
You then pay only for design, metal and labour. Undrilled pearls carry a small drilling risk, which we explain first.
